SHAELYNN TREDENICK is a photo-based artist in Ottawa, Canada. She is an emerging artist, having a graduate’s diploma in Photographic Arts + Production at the School of Photographic Arts: Ottawa, as well as the Photography Program at Algonquin.

For the past ten years, competitive dance was her main art form and a part of her lifestyle she now carries into her visual practice. Style and movement are the fundamental choreography she brings into her photo-based work.

Her practice now involves scanography of botanicals taking inspiration from 17th-century floral Dutch paintings to the new art world and everyday floral arrangements. Creating illusions and depth using hand techniques, digitalized applications, and floral positioning, she has modernized the historic floral artwork we used to see. She enjoys the challenge of bringing that passion from the camera to her artistic work. Despite the lack of a green thumb, she pours her emotions and sensations into each piece to construct a new life form.
